There could be no better mix than a mid-motor Porsche with a level six motor.
There wasn’t a thing amiss with the old Cayman GTS, truly. However, from the second I turn over the motor, this new one simply feels… right. Something about the sound of a normally suctioned level six becoming animated behind me reflexively delivers additional serotonin into my cerebrum. It’s a practically Pavlovian update that life’s going to improve.
Porsche’s 718 GTS 4.0 models are somewhat of a mea culpa, a correcting of past wrongs. The old GTS utilized a 2.5-liter turbocharged level 4, and keeping in mind that it was an entirely solid motor with loads of low-end force, it came up short on the character and direct force conveyance of a free-breathing level six. It didn’t sound half as great, all things considered.
