This time, the Stuttgart-based company introduced smart glasses for e-bike riders. The so-called Bosch Smartglasses Light Drive offers e-bike riders many possibilities they have never had before.
The smart glasses come with Head-Up Display (HUD), which we have seen in many cars in recent years. In the introduction video from Bosch, we see that the e-bike driver follows the GPS instructions with the SmartGlasses Light Drive HUD system step by step. The directions are updated each time the e-bike rider approaches the turn.
The e-bike driver then enters a supermarket. Seeing the shopping list in HUD, the driver can add or remove products from the list by touching the glasses twice. Weighing only 10 grams, the SmartGlasses Light Drive has a very ergonomic design.
Bosch’s smart glasses bring to mind the fiasco of Google Glass. Of course, this does not mean that the German brand will have the same fate as Google. Bosch has been developing e-bike displays for years, and smart glasses seem to be the ultimate evolution of this process.
However, it may be a more accurate way to keep the head-on-screen displays on the side to be more careful of the road hazards when driving a car or e-bike. Bosch’s HUD technology is at the heart of the drive.
However, it is important to remind that SmartGlasses Light Drive is a smart glasses system which is under development. In addition, the advertising of the German brand is only 30 seconds. So it is not possible to derive deep meanings about the product from here. We expect to see more detailed information about Bosch’s smart glasses next year.
