Finally, according to the Independent report, the US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer took an important step for a possible coronavirus vaccine. The company injected the first vaccines into a group of people for treatment with a potential coronavirus vaccine in the U.S.
The new treatment, called ‘BNT162’, was applied to individuals aged 18 to 55. According to the company statement, the new treatment has genetic materials that can develop an immunity to coronavirus. The work done by Pfizer followed the work that started in Germany at the end of last month.
Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla also made a statement on the subject. “It’s amazing that we can move from pre-clinical studies to human testing in less than four months,” Bourla said in a statement. In the statement made by Pfizer, it was said that the treatment would be applied to 360 individuals and then it would be tried in older patients.
The first trials on human development in developing vaccines against coronavirus in the USA started last March. To date, giant companies and institutions such as National Institutes of Health, Modern and Johnson & Johnson have been involved in the work. Johnson & Johnson said in the previous statement that about 900 million vaccines will be on the market in the first months of 2021. Of course, official approval is required for these vaccines to be fully released. In the USA, the FDA agency has not approved any treatment developed for COVID-19 to date.
